Philosophy
Are you looking for more than medications for your life journey? I can bridge the traditions of the East, West, and beyond to curate a mental health wellness plan for you. My special training includes meditation, mindfulness, nutrition, supplements, a broad repertoire of psychotherapy techniques, and more. Of note, I am one of a limited number of Accelerated Resolution Therapy practitioners locally and nationally. These approaches build on the foundation of my medication expertise, with the goal of using the minimum necessary. My love of food and travel is part of a wider exploration of cultural and other differences between people, which I can weave into my work if you desire. Now that our paths have crossed, I look forward to discussing how I can guide you further on your journey.
Bio
I dove into an alternative medicine intensive while at the University of Michigan Medical School and have been deepening that exploration ever since. I learned mindfulness-based psychotherapy as a psychiatry resident at UCSF. While a public psychiatry fellow at Columbia and later an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU, I did home visits to people who needed more than standard care. I have completed the Integrative Psychiatry Institute fellowship accredited by the University of Colorado. As the psychiatry residency director at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, I have taught psychotherapy, addictions treatment, medication management, evidence-based medicine, and cultural psychiatry. I was promoted to Associate Professor in 2023. I am excited about drawing from my breadth and depth of experience to provide you effective treatment that honors your values.
Services
I am available in person or by secure video on Mondays and by secure video on Tuesdays.• Initial assessment / consultation: first session, longer appointments possible
• Integrative psychiatry including medications and complementary treatments
• Psychotherapy, with or without integrative psychiatryInitial assessments are 45 minutes, with the help of a questionnaire filled out beforehand on my secure patient portal. Follow-up appointments are also 45 minutes, so that we have enough time to address lifestyle and other areas that are often underappreciated in psychiatric care. Each session costs $350, and I do not take insurance. I am listed on insurance panels through my other position working with psychiatry residents to provide care.
